Since the original C8011B and C8013B machine tools lack the reference in the axial direction when the wheel set is clamped, the axial position of the wheel set changes during the clamping, so the manual tool setting is required when machining the wheel set with the CNC tool holder. The diameter also needs to be measured manually. In order to fully utilize the role of the CNC system of the lathe and significantly improve the production efficiency, we have developed an automatic tool setting and wheel diameter measuring device.

The automatic tool setting and wheel diameter measuring device consists of a box, two probes (measuring probe and tool setting probe), AC servo motor and proximity switch. When in use, the device is mounted on the tool holder plate and moves with the tool holder. The motor and the probe switch are connected with the numerical control system. When working, the probe is first extended. After the position is sent, the probe stops extending. The lateral feed motor of the tool holder drives the tool holder to move laterally, and the measuring head is close to the workpiece for measurement and measurement. The value is calculated by the numerical control system and displayed in the block; when the measuring head switch is sent, the infeed motor stops feeding, and the longitudinal feed motor of the tool holder starts and drives the tool holder for longitudinal movement, so that the tool setting probe approaches the workpiece. When the tool probe switch is sent, the longitudinal motor stops feeding. At this time, the coordinate position of the tool to the X and Y axes of the O point on the workpiece is determined; then the tool probe is retracted, and the tool holder is under the control of the CNC system. Automatic cutting according to the programmed procedure.

Practice has proved that after the automatic tool setting and wheel diameter measuring device is configured, the tool holder of the C8011B and C8013B wheel lathe has become a fully automated CNC tool holder.
