According to the report of the American media autoevolution on March 14, researchers of the University of California at the United States have recently described the subject as "unbelievable". They are studying the use of Conch's teeth to make batteries for electric cars and hybrid cars. This may bring about a revolution in the green car industry.

Analog conch battery

The conch, known as gumboot chiton, usually uses its conveyor-type magnet teeth to scrape algae on seabed stones. Because of the prolonged contact with the stones, the teeth will wear out, but they will grow new teeth again. What interests scientists is that they can produce nanocrystals at low temperatures.

In other words, these conch shells will allow scientists to find new ways to use lithium ion batteries and solar cells in the entire automotive space.

David Kisailus, an assistant professor of chemistry and environmental engineering at the University of California, said in a report in the US “Daily Science”: “This is incredible. This process is conducted at room temperature and without affecting the environment. This is our low-cost nanocrystal. The brand-new road to manufacture is hugely tempting."

Realizing the fabrication of nanocrystals at room temperature can greatly reduce the production cost and create a lithium battery that can be charged faster.
