The energy consumption of copper smelting in China has reached the world's lowest level in the industry. The reporter learned from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association that the average energy consumption of crude copper smelting of Dongying Fangyuan Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. in 2010 was only 162.34 kilograms of standard coal/t, which is 130 kilograms less than that of other advanced smelters in the world.

It is understood that in the process of producing blister copper from copper concentrates, the energy consumption is mainly generated in two parts: one is the amount of energy consumed by copper concentrates in the smelting furnace during high temperature smelting; the second is that the smelting process requires a lot of oxygen, making The amount of energy consumed by the oxygen process.

At the end of 2008, Dongying Yuanyuan used an oxygen-enriched bottom-blowing smelting process to build an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of copper smelters. Compared with other processes such as Ausmelt, Aisha, and Noranda, the oxygen-enriched bottom-blowing smelting process adopts a closed furnace design and the heat is not leaked. The copper concentrate can achieve complete self-heating without adding any fuel. Melting, while other methods need to add 3%-5% of the pulverized coal in the copper concentrate. In addition, oxygen* is placed on the bottom of the furnace and oxygen is blown from the bottom up. The reaction kinetics and thermodynamic conditions in the furnace have unique advantages. The raw material and oxygen are in full contact and the raw material is fully burned. Therefore, the consumed oxygen is reduced by 30% compared with other processes. about. According to the data for the whole year of 2010, the lowest monthly consumption of blister copper was only 133 kilograms of standard coal/t, and the annual average was 162.34 kilograms of standard coal/t.

Zhao Bo, deputy director of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, said that limited by the equipment and process design, currently using large enterprises such as Ausmelt, Aisha and Nolanda smelting processes, the blister copper energy consumption are all in the 300 kg standard Coal/t around.

In view of the huge advantages of this process in energy conservation and emission reduction and the leading position of other major technical indicators, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association have already promoted this technology nationwide. Currently, 11 companies have adopted it at home and abroad. To further improve the results of the promotion and application of work, Dongying Fangyuan also established Shandong Yuanyuan Nonferrous Metals Technical Service Co., Ltd., which is dedicated to the technical service work of the oxygen-enriched bottom blowing smelting process and the related supporting process technology of copper smelting.
