[China Aluminum Network] Molding in the manufacturing process of refractory bricks refers to the process in which refractory materials are processed into blanks of a specified size and shape by means of external forces and models. However, the construction of a newly developed gravity casting material basically does not require external force.

The formation of firebrick is firstly to meet the requirements of the use of the product. When firebrick masonry is required, the product has a certain shape, accurate size and sufficient strength. Secondly, molding is also an effective means to improve the physical and chemical properties of the product. Through molding, the structure of the product can be improved. There are many ways to form refractory bricks. The traditional molding method is divided into the following:
(1) Semi-dry: The billet moisture is about 5%, suitable for blanks with different clinker content (50% - 100%);
(2) Plastic method: The moisture content of the blank is about 15%, which is suitable for manufacturing large-scale or complex-shaped products;
(3) Grouting: The moisture content of the billet is about 40%, which is suitable for the production of hollow thin-walled refractory materials.
There are many methods for forming refractory bricks, and commonly used forming methods include organic pressure forming method, vibration forming method, extrusion molding method, punching forming, isostatic pressing molding, fusion casting molding, injection molding, and the like.
Which molding method is selected is mainly based on the properties of the peat, the shape, size, and other process requirements of the blank. Except that most of the firebricks are machine-press molded, the vibration molding is generally used to form large deformed blanks, and the extrusion molding is generally used for forming the tubular blanks. The grouting molding is generally used for thin blank forming of hollow walls. Isostatic pressing is currently used mainly for the production of high-performance refractory materials.
Of course, the selection of the molding method is also limited by the conditions of the equipment in the production plant, and therefore some refractory bricks cannot use the preferred molding method. In this case, the company should choose other suitable molding methods under the precondition of meeting the technical requirements of firebricks. Regardless of the method used, the formed blank should meet the following requirements:
(1) The shape, size and accuracy meet the design requirements;
(2) The structure is uniform and compact, and there is no crack on the surface and inside;
(3) Has sufficient mechanical strength;
(4) Meet the expected physical performance requirements.
The processing process of the firebrick body is shaping, the main methods are: machine press molding, isostatic press molding, fusion casting molding, vibration molding, punching molding, extrusion molding, hot press molding and the like.
