When the capacitor of single-phase asynchronous motor is damaged and the capacitance is unclear, what method should we use to estimate the capacitance simply? Today, Dalan Motor manufacturers will give you an explanation around this problem.

1. Calculation formula

C = 8Iq, Iq = jq

In the formula: C—capacitance (μF)

Iq—starting winding rated current (A)

j—current density of starting winding wire, generally 5-7A / mm2

q—Cross section of starting winding (mm2)

Second, calculation examples

There is a 1400mm ceiling fan, it is known that the starting winding uses Φ0.21mm wire, try to estimate the capacitance.

Solution: The cross section of the starting winding wire is

q = π / 4d2 = 3.14 / 4 × 0.212 = 0.0346 (mm2)

Taking the current density as j = 6A / mm2, then

Iq = jq = 6 × 0.0346 = 0.2076

Therefore, the capacitance is

C = 8Iq = 8 × 0.2076 = 1.66 (μF) Through actual debugging, the final determination is 2μF

3. Summary

After a large number of experiments, the estimated value is basically consistent with the actual debugging value. In the process of debugging, as long as the starting winding current drops slightly while the capacitive motor loads and the running winding current rises with increasing load, the starting capacitance can be adjusted appropriately to obtain a circular rotating magnetic field.
