The National Inspection Center has hired a number of authoritative experts in the industry as academic technology leaders. It not only undertakes the quality supervision and inspection, arbitration inspection and enterprise commission inspection functions of national tungsten, rare earth and other non-ferrous metal products, but also conducts research on product quality inspection techniques and methods. The research and development of new products and new materials and their application technology research provide technical support for government departments to make decisions on resource allocation, development and utilization and sustainable development.

The research team led by Prof. Wan Linsheng of the school has been working on the project of “white (black) tungsten ore clean and efficient production of ultra-high-performance tungsten powder complete technology and industrialization” for more than 20 years. In view of the near exhaustion of China's black tungsten resources, white tungsten has become the main raw material and the existing production technology at home and abroad can not achieve the sustainable development of the tungsten smelting industry. The school independently developed a number of core technologies, which fundamentally solved the tungsten in China. The bottleneck problem of sustainable development of the industry has realized the efficient green production of China's tungsten smelting industry, realized the low-cost industrial production of nano-scale tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder in China, and reversed the pattern of high-grade tungsten-dependent imports, completing the first article in China. The complete design of the production line of high-performance tungsten powder material for scheelite has promoted the upgrading and development of China's tungsten industry, which is of great significance for comprehensively upgrading China's tungsten smelting technology and building a strong tungsten industry. The project was awarded the second prize of the 2008 National Science and Technology Progress Award. Up to now, the results have been promoted in 9 large domestic backbone enterprises. In the past five years, the sales revenue was 12.4 billion yuan, and the newly added profit was 735 million yuan. The products were exported to 16 countries including Europe and the United States, and earned US$180 million.
