Rare earth emission standards will be introduced

On December 30, 2010, Minister of Environmental Protection Zhou Shengxian presided over the MEP Executive Meeting to listen to reports on the national total discharge control plan for major pollutants during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. At the meeting, three national standards for radioactive pollution prevention and control and “Rare Earth Industrial Pollutant Emission Standards”, including the Nuclear Power Plant Environmental Radiation Protection Regulations (Draft for Ratification), were adopted in principle. The industry expects that the "Rare Earth Industrial Pollutant Emission Standard" is expected to be formally announced this year.
