It does not meet the precision requirements of the actual production.
At present, many manufacturers have begun to use the leak detection method. The helium mass spectrometer leak detection method uses helium as a probe gas for leak holes and a mass spectrometer to detect leakage of helium leaks. It has the advantages of high reaction speed, high detection precision, large detectable range, non-toxicity, no pollution, high efficiency and no radioactivity.

The leak detection method is generally divided into the pumping method and the filling method. According to the working condition of the steel drum, it is generally positive pressure, so the leak detection method is adopted. The helium filling method mainly includes a sniffer method and a vacuum box method. After the helium gas having a predetermined pressure is filled into the workpiece, the leakage of the sniffer* near the workpiece may be used to perform a leak detection, or it may be filled. The helium workpiece is placed in a vacuum box slightly larger than the workpiece. The vacuum box is evacuated through the pump set and then connected to the leak detector to measure the overall leakage rate of the workpiece. The sniffer device is relatively simple, but the larger workpiece is easy to miss, and the leak detection accuracy, rate and automation are not as good as the vacuum box method.

The vacuum box method is used for leak detection of steel drums. The main process is as follows:

1. Filling: Fill the drum with helium at the specified pressure. Because the steel drum cannot withstand higher vacuum and higher pressure, a method of directly filling the drum with a certain amount of helium is adopted. The concentration of helium is approximately the volume of the helium/steel drum (before filling the drum). A certain amount of clean air can be introduced into the drum to exclude the dirty air in the drum. After the helium has been filled, the drum is sealed immediately.

2. Place the steel drum filled with helium into a vacuum box. After pumping the vacuum pump to vacuum the vacuum box to the specified vacuum level, the leak detector communicates with the vacuum box. If the steel drum leaks, the helium gas will enter the vacuum box through the leak hole. The leak detector measures the signal in the vacuum box and the leak rate value. If the set value is exceeded, it will be rejected.

When using the vacuum box method for leak detection, the steel drum can automatically enter the vacuum box through the workpiece conveying device, and then manually press the start button, the vacuum door can be automatically closed, vacuum, leak detection, etc. are automatically performed, and the system will prompt if it is qualified.
