Wacker Chemical Launches Organic Silicone Adhesives for Solar Cells

WACKER Chemical Group has successfully developed a new organic silicone adhesive for the solar power industry.

The new product is transparent, pourable, and non-corrosive. It can quickly harden when heated and has excellent adhesion properties. It can provide long-term effective, chemical-resistant and mechanical load protection for a variety of thin-film solar cells.

This hardened, two-component silicone rubber becomes a transparent silicone elastomer, which firmly binds the layers together and reliably seals the thin-film module against external moisture. The product can be bonded to glass or flexible film made of different materials, such as aluminum, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate or activated ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer, without prior treatment material. The product can be used as a bonding medium for a variety of flexible thin-layer modules, and can also be used to produce solar cells or to bond semiconductor thin-film batteries.
