Glass fiber reinforced plastic is based on the original pure plastic, adding glass fiber and other additives to improve the use of the material. In general, most of the glass fiber reinforced materials are used in structural parts of the product, which is a structural engineering material; such as: PP, ABS, PA66, PA6, PC, POM, PPS, PPO, PET, PBT.
Advantages of glass fiber reinforced plastic:
1. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the glass fiber is a high temperature resistant material. Therefore, the heat resistant temperature of the reinforced plastic is much higher than before the glass fiber is added, especially the nylon plastic.
2. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the addition of the glass fiber limits the mutual movement of the polymer chains of the plastic. Therefore, the shrinkage rate of the reinforced plastic is greatly reduced, and the rigidity is also greatly improved.
3. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the reinforced plastic will not be stress cracked, and at the same time, the impact resistance of the plastic is improved a lot.
4. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the glass fiber is a high-strength material, which also greatly increases the strength of the plastic, such as: tensile strength, compressive strength, bending strength, and a lot of improvement.
5. After the glass fiber is reinforced, due to the addition of glass fiber and other additives, the combustion performance of the reinforced plastic is greatly reduced, and most of the materials cannot be ignited, which is a flame retardant material.
Disadvantages of glass fiber reinforced plastic:
1. After the glass fiber is reinforced, due to the addition of the glass fiber, it will become opaque without adding the glass fiber.
2. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the toughness of all plastics is reduced, and the brittleness is increased.
3. After the glass fiber is reinforced, due to the addition of glass fiber, the melt viscosity of all materials increases, the fluidity deteriorates, and the injection pressure is much higher than that without glass fiber.
4. After the glass fiber is reinforced, due to the addition of glass fiber, the fluidity is poor. For normal injection molding, the injection temperature of all reinforced plastics is increased by 10 ° C to 30 ° C before the addition of glass fiber.
5. After the glass fiber is reinforced, due to the addition of glass fiber and auxiliaries, the hygroscopic property of the reinforced plastic is greatly enhanced. The original pure plastic will not absorb water, so it must be dried during injection molding.
6. After the glass fiber is reinforced, in the injection molding process, the glass fiber can enter the surface of the plastic product, so that the surface of the product becomes very rough and spotted. In order to achieve a higher surface quality, it is preferable to use a mold temperature machine to heat the mold during injection molding, so that the plastic polymer enters the surface of the product, but the appearance quality of the pure plastic cannot be achieved.
7. After the glass fiber is reinforced, the glass fiber is a material with high hardness. After the high temperature volatilization of the auxiliary agent, it is a highly corrosive gas, and the screw and the injection mold of the injection molding machine are worn and corroded greatly. Therefore, the production uses such a type. When using the material mold and injection molding machine, pay attention to the surface anti-corrosion treatment and surface hardness treatment of the equipment.
