China's first spallation neutron source is located in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, and will become the fourth pulsed spallation neutron source in the world.

According to reports, the entire plant is built 13 to 18 meters underground. The main construction includes a 80 million electron volt negative hydrogen ion linear accelerator, a 1.6 million electron volt fast-circulating proton accelerator, and 2 beam transports. Lines, a target station, the first three sets of spectrometers and the corresponding supporting facilities and civil engineering.

Chen Hesheng said that the Chinese spallation neutron source project was laid in October 2011 and the target was successfully hit on August 28, 2017, resulting in neutron beams. "It's going even better than expected." He said that the proton beam is a successful target in both low flow and high flow conditions, indicating that the design of the accelerator and target station is scientific and reasonable, which proves the high quality and high reliability of various equipment manufacturing, installation and debugging.

China's spallation source of neutron source equipment to reach more than 96%. Since 2006, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has supported pre-research on related key technologies. The mass production of accelerators, target stations and spectrometer process equipment has been completed by nearly 100 cooperative units in China.
