A new type of high-temperature superconducting strip has been developed by the Moscow State Institute of Engineering Physics at the Russian National Nuclear Research University. Relevant experts believe that the research results will broaden the application fields of high-temperature superconductors, such as new engines, bearings and kinetic energy storage. With no resistance, superconductors are often used to make wires and cables. Unlike ordinary conductors (such as copper and aluminum), if current is passed, the superconductor will not heat up at all, that is, it will not cause energy loss. In addition, superconductors expel the internal magnetic field. This means that if a magnet is placed above the superconductor, the magnet will not fall down and will float at a certain height. Because of this quantum nature of the superconducting state, the magnet and superconductor will "bind each other" no matter how they move. This phenomenon is called "magnetic levitation". Thus, a new type of high-temperature superconducting strip can be developed.

Igor Rudneev, director of the Superconductivity and Magnetic Phenomena Laboratory of the Institute of Laser and Plasma Technology at the Moscow State Institute of Engineering and Physics, Russian National Nuclear Research University, said: "This material is more functional than traditional ceramic superconductors. Our extensive experimental and theoretical work has shown that the use of high-temperature superconducting strips in magnetic levitation systems is undoubtedly promising. "
