The solar battery cell evaluation device was developed using the microscope technology developed by Doo Inoshi Katsura, a researcher at the University of Osaka University's Laser Energy Research Center, and using the "Laser Terahertz Emission" method. The solar cell is irradiated with an ultrashort laser pulse of about 100 femtoseconds (laser flashes repeatedly in a short time), and the electromagnetic wave (terahertz wave) generated at this time is detected, and the state of the battery cell can be visualized. The evaluation device developed was installed in the Fukushima Renewable Energy Research Institute (Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture) of the Japan Industrial Technology Research Institute. The Institute of Integrated Research is using this device to study crystalline silicon solar cells and verify the impact of changes in the instantaneous power generation status of the cells on energy conversion and loss, in order to improve the efficiency of power generation.
